This is the general privacy policy for Possums for Mothers and Babies Limited ACN 162 221 892.  All references to “we”, “us” or “Possums” is a reference to Possums for Mothers and Babies Limited.

We provide both clinical services and educational and conference services.  This Privacy Policy details how we handle personal information, other than personal information provided to us, or obtained by us, in the provision of our clinical services (which is covered by a separate privacy policy).

We are committed to complying with Australian Privacy laws and the Spam Act.

By using our services or providing personal information to us, including accessing our websites, requesting publications or reports from us, or registering for a conference or seminar, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.  Please read over and be aware of this policy before providing us with any of your personal information.

Collection and storage of personal information

We collect personal information in a number of ways, including:

  • directly from you, for example, when you subscribe to receive newsletters or send us an email; and
  • as part of the registration process for seminars, conferences and services.


We collect and store this personal information and use these details to provide services to you, and as outlined in this Privacy Policy.  We comply with all laws relating to spam and unsolicited mail, and you will always have the option to unsubscribe at any time.

If you provide data to us which includes personal information of another, you must first obtain consent to our collection, use and disclosure of that information in accordance with this Privacy Policy from the person to whom the personal information relates.  By providing that information to us, you represent that you have obtained such consent.

If you do not give us information on request, we may be unable to supply the information or update that you requested, or provide our services to you.

The information we collect and store is used for the purpose for which it was collected and to provide our services to you, including related services such as administrative and operational purposes.  Our services may include regular email updates, provision of newsletters and seminar and conference services. 

We may also use your personal information to conduct research and to improve our services and develop new products and services. (This is different to information for our academic research, for which we will always procure specific consent, according to usual protocols.) For example, we will examine usage information to see what parts of our service and which products we provide are most popular.  We may also use usage details to address problems with our website.  We may also use the information to market our other services to you.  You may unsubscribe if you do not wish to receive these updates.

Credit card details

If you provide us with your credit card details for payment of products and services, we will only use that information for the purpose of processing your payment, which includes disclosing the information to our third party credit card gateway provider.  We will retain a record of the last 4 digits of your credit card number for auditing and verification purposes only.

Disclosure of personal information

We take reasonable steps to protect all information which we hold (including your personal information) from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

In certain circumstances, we may provide some of your personal information to a third party to assist with the provision of our services.  For example, a customer’s contact details and address may be provided to a service provider responsible for organising conferences or sending out emails on our behalf.

In limited other circumstances we may be required by law to provide your personal information to third parties, such as law enforcement agencies.

Access to your personal information

Upon your request, we will provide you access to any of your personal information which we hold.  If you make such a request, you will be required to provide us with proof of identity.  We may charge you the reasonable cost of collecting your personal information.
